She also served as an immigration law consultant from 2012 to 2020 to the nonprofit Puerto Rican Action Board. In 2004 she became the executive director and director of legal affairs for the Boaz Community Corporation, a nonprofit legal services provider, where she represented clients on immigration matters and conducted annual outreach campaigns to social service providers on immigration law, family law and rights of victims. While there, she drafted briefs to the Appellate Division, responded to Habeas Corpus petitions, answered post-judgement motions and Freedom of Information Act requests, interviewed crime victims, and prepared criminal complaints.
